A New Role in the Cloud for a Tried and Tested Schemaless Database
One of the more interesting aspects of the Cloud Computing revolution has been the emergence of schemaless and hierarchical databases which, it is asserted, are more readily able to meet the demands and requirements of the Cloud than the once dominant relational model. Although many of the new databases have been developed from the ground up, there have, in fact, been a number of existing, tried and tested schemaless database technologies lurking in the marketplace before the advent of Cloud Computing. KS Bhaskar and Rob Tweed believe these are now emerging as important and highly functional engines on which to build Cloud services.
