Links are important to websites. They provide access to other pages on the same site as well as pages on the rest of the internet that would be of interest to your readers. But many sites have overly restrictive rules about external links - like allowing no external links. While other sites have no rules at all and end up with a crazy quilt of random links to almost anywhere. Having no external links does nothing for your presence in the Web community - and no one will link to you if they know you won't link to them. But having too many external links can result in search engines banning you for link farming. The solution? A linking strategy.
