Flash video - not such a good idea
 |
In an interesting interview, apparently more people are coming out
opposed to Flash - at least for video.
TechRadar had an interview with Philip Grønvold, product analyst for Opera. And he said:
"Flash does have its purposes and will have its purposes, the same as [Microsoft's] Silverlight and others, especially for dynamic content.
"But flash as a video container makes very little sense for CPU, WiFi battery usage etcetera - you can cook an egg on [devices] once you start running Flash on them and there's a reason for that."
Ouch!
HTML 5 video has a distinct advantage over Flash video, beyond being standards compliant, it has better resource usage because it's using the browser's native support do the work. So unless you want your customers to cook on their laptops (perhaps useful for culinary websites), HTML 5 video is a better choice.
