One of the missing features in CSS2 is the ability to stretch an image to fit a specific area of the page. While some might argue that stretching images just makes them ugly, there are situations where it can be useful, so not having it in CSS2 is annoying. But CSS3 has a solution, the background-size property. And for those browsers that support it, it can be really useful. Here's an example of background-size in action.
