What if you could do this with HTML and CSS?

Or this:

Or even this:

Well, with the new
CSS3 Regions and
CSS3 Exclusions modules you will be able to. And Adobe Labs has created a
prototype you can use to see how it works, and how you can use it.
The CSS3 Regions and Exclusions modules let you define areas of your site as flow areas for content. This lets you define columns and flow your content through them and create shapes and put your text inside them or around the outside of them. This makes web pages even more like magazine layouts—no more being limited to the boxy grid of CSS2.
This is not supported by any standard browsers yet, but it's still a lot of fun. I created a stop-sign of text in just playing around in the prototype browser. I can't wait until this becomes more readily available.
If you want to try it out, you can download the prototype which includes a bunch of examples, documentation, and a prototype webkit browser that supports these features. Have fun! I know I did!
