RDF or Resource Description Format is a way of describing the data on your page to make it semantic. This lets computers know what the content is as well as people reading it. RDF can be used within HTML to describe the data, and there are many RDF languages for describing lots of different things already in use. Darla has a great article on RDF and why you should use it.
