Purchasing a professional paid web template can save you time and money. But what about these free template providers all over the internet? Can I use these free templates, instead? Sure, but there are disadvantages to using them. First, these free html web templates often require that you provide a back-link to whoever provides them. This is a common and fair practice; after all, these template providers are giving away these ready-made template designs for free (although we ourselves do not require back-links with our free templates).

Many free template providers also give away the Photoshop files used to design the templates. Since Adobe Photoshop is the choice graphics editor used by designers for editing website images and layouts, the PSD files allows users to easily customize their html templates. E-Nordstrom does not give away the PSD files for its trial templates. However, unlike other free templates, E-nordstrom’s free web templates use full-CSS layering on the HTML files. This means that the layout doesn’t have to be edited in Photoshop and exported to an HTML file. You can reposition all the graphic and text elements from within an HTML editor such as Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Many free templates are considerably less attractive than paid web templates. Many do not have bundled designs for subpages, fonts, or attractive flash animations that spice up a website.
